A soliloquy for someone I know not

Young female at the movie theater, I'll give you an E for effort in at least trying to establish some kind of communication with me, however I must critique your methods. Acting like a giddy high school girl does not appeal to a 23 year old. Asking how old I am, was an acceptable way to start a conversation as far as I'm concerned but to follow it with asking if I'm single with a high-school-esk little grin sent you spiralling down to crash and burn almost like a plane with a wing torn off in mid flight. Unfortunately for you I don't date people I don't know, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I didn't find you attractive. Sorry about my hasty response to the single question ["I'm always single"] followed by a retreat to the movie in which I planned to see [Iron Man, quite good actually] but I figured it was the easiest way to be direct, not lie, and avoid any awkwardness.

A lot of girls wouldn't even ask those 2 starter questions. Guys sometimes have issues getting over the hump of starting a conversation with girls they don't know and girls like you make that easier. So keep your chin up and keep trying, someone will find your questionaire-ing attractive and pursue further conversation with you.

Haha! I think the single question is a good one. It might not be the smoothest thing to say, but I think it's better than hitting on someone who's taken. :P Nice little tale, Matt!
